CNB電視臺(tái)正在打造全新的新聞節(jié)目，小毛病不斷的一堆同們充滿熱力地討論誰來擔(dān)任主。卻料想不到報(bào)道局長(zhǎng)柴田勝（兒玉清飾）已經(jīng)把素有“傳女主播”之命的椿木春香（天佑希飾）從美國(guó)請(qǐng)回。椿木春一到辦公室便大刀闊斧地按照人意志改了新聞名稱和定位：做名為“TheNews”的獨(dú)家報(bào)道欄目，并且指定天氣預(yù)員飛鳥望美（矢田亞希子飾）自己的特別助理，引來一片驚。椿木春香八年前就在電視臺(tái)任女主播，以“在米糠醬里躲72小時(shí)挖掘到獨(dú)家新聞”而聞名，最后因?yàn)榻衣峨娨暸_(tái)光山幕被逼走他方。此次回來她那不一切的工作方式再次引起大家滿，但第一次獨(dú)家新聞就在這的氛圍下出現(xiàn)了，導(dǎo)演蟹原健（玉木宏飾），助理主播野原衣（松下奈緒飾）、伊賀俊平松田翔太飾）以及飛鳥在椿木香的帶領(lǐng)下開始逐漸領(lǐng)會(huì)到獨(dú)新聞令人興奮之處以及學(xué)會(huì)新人應(yīng)有的素養(yǎng)，漸漸擺脫烏合眾的概念。只是，CNB的丑聞再度爆發(fā)，椿木春香再次面臨年前一模一樣的選擇：要新聞是要飯碗，要真理還是要逃避
